Arlington House, All Saints' Avenue, Margate
Arlington House was built in the 1960s and in its early years presided majestically over crowded sandy beaches and a thriving seaside town. But tastes have changed in both architecture and leisure and today the block is surrounded by little more than a derelict shopping arcade.

Arlington House, Margate
Brutalist architecture arrived in Margate in 1964 when this block, designed by Russell Diplock and Associates, was built close to the station and the seafront; the shape was intended to represent waves, allowing sea and countryside views from all of the 142 apartments. The original design incorporated a shopping centre and public car park but these areas are no longer used. One resident has made their views on Brexit very clear.
