Anvil Close, Birchington
Anvil Close is just an ordinary cul-de-sac off Park Lane in Birchington, but the streetlighting on it is fascinating! I don't know if you agree with me, but I think this lantern looks like a jewel! The entire cul-de-sac is lit with these, although one has been replaced by a modern lantern on the existing column. Just a shame the lanterns aren't shaped like anvils - that really would be apt! View taken looking southeast, parallel with Park Lane and just around the corner from Image

The Acorn Inn, Park Lane, Birchington
Apologies for the awkward angle at which this image was taken - as you can see, the road running by the inn is extremely narrow , so I couldn't move back far enough to include the whole building in-shot! More to the point it's also very dangerous! Hence, I took this view from the opposite pavement looking west-north west at the very top edge of the gridsquare. To give you an idea of the location, the spire of All Saints Church can just be seen above the treetop on the left in the image!

Fountain-shaped hedge in Court Manor Park Home Site
This is another wonderfully trimmed hedge - in the shape of a fountain! This can be found if one walks left from the entrance and looks along the gardens of the row of homes on the left hand side. View taken looking east-northeast just inside the top edge of the square. Note also the unusual pebbledashed shed on the left in the photo!

Lake in Court Manor Park Home Site
This beautiful but rather murky lake can be found around the centre of the Court Manor Park Home Site. View taken looking south-east near the north-western corner of the square.

Cottage on Canterbury Road
These beautiful cottages can be found opposite the entrance of All Saints Church, where Dante Gabriel Rossetti is buried. Viewed looking south-southwest just inside the top edge of the square.

Original Artwork at Court Manor Park Home Site
Court Manor Park Home Site off Canterbury Road in Birchington is teeming with shrubs and hedges cut into various shapes! This hedge at the entrance to the site has got to be the most original one of the lot - it certainly must have required some exceptional pruning skills to make!
