Junction of Cliff Avenue and Sea View Road
Looking at the junction of Cliff Avenue and Sea View Road, two interesting things greet us. First, there is the thatched cottage on the extreme left of the photo and the concrete streetlight just to the right of that. The lantern is a mercury lantern now rare in the UK called an Eleco Silver Ray Junior - Herne Bay is the only place I've seen which still largely uses them. The column is also of interest as it looks to be the type that held an early fluorescent lantern, until the Silver Ray Junior came along in the 1970s/80s and replaced the fluorescent lantern. View taken looking north-northeast towards the sea.
