Sir Barnes Neville Wallis Statue
On green near Eastcliff Parade. Near junction of Beacon Hill Road (behind) and Canterbury Road (on right). It is on the Herne Bay Cultural Trail (No4). Sign on plinth reads 'Sir Barnes Neville Wallis 1887-1979 Scientist, engineer and inventor. Most noted for his invention of the bouncing bomb used in the dambuster raids. Statue of Barnes Wallis at Herne Bay
One of the testing sites for the bouncing bomb, invented by Barnes Wallis, was in the sea off Reculver, to the east of here. The statue at Herne Bay is between Beacon Hill and Canterbury Road.
