The public house has reopened for business. This was the Image when it was up for sale in April 2017.
It is a grade II listed building, dating from about 1500, which was originally a dwelling house before becoming a public house

Looking northwest along The Street
Chequer Lodge (whose address is 2 Chequer Lane) is the house that has had scaffolding erected around one of its chimneys. It is a grade II listed building that dates from the 18th century but was altered in the mid 19th century http://www.britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/en-178097-chequer-lodge-ash-kent#.VZWB7v7bLcc To its right is the Chequer Inn, a former public house which has closed.

The Chequer Inn, 4, Chequer Lane
The chartered surveyors Sidney Phillips have affixed a for sale board to the frontage of the building. Their website http://www.sidneyphillips.co.uk/forsale.php?r=se indicates that it has a freehold asking price of £340,000. Chris Heaton’s photo of Image shows the pub when it was still open for business.
