The chartered surveyors Sidney Phillips have affixed a for sale board to the frontage of the building. Their website http://www.sidneyphillips.co.uk/forsale.php?r=se indicates that it has a freehold asking price of £340,000. Chris Heaton’s photo of Image shows the pub when it was still open for business. It is a grade II listed building, dating from about 1500, which was originally a dwelling house before becoming a public house http://www.britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/101052354-the-chequer-inn-ash#.WQd-Uv6GPcc
