Reverse curves on RH&DR
For the final approach to the Hythe terminus the Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch Railway follows the south bank of the Royal Military Canal quite closely. In consequence there are two sets of reverse curves necessary to negotiate the defensive doglegs built into the canal.

Reflections in the Royal Military Canal, Hythe
Viewed from the electric boat that offers trips up and down the canal. The canal was dug to counter the threat of invasion by Napoleon. It was completed in 1809 and stretches 28 miles from Hythe to Pett Level near Hastings.
