Knights Templar Church [1]
Off Citadel Road in the Western Heights are the remains of a 12th century church of the Knights Templar. There is a circular nave and a rectangular chancel, mirroring the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem. The buried foundations were discovered in the early 19th century during the construction of the Western Heights military defences. Only the flint and mortar core of the foundations and a small area of stone facing survive. The church is in the care of English Heritage.
