Looking from the car park off Russell Street to the four storey houses on Castle Street. The blue hoarding was the site of an office building which has been demolished.

Demolition of former MFI retail warehouse, Dover
The side of the building stands in Maison Dieu Road while the front is in Castle Street and, at present, it is owned by Lidl. Planning permission has been granted by Dover District Council under application number 10/00949 for the “demolition of existing retail warehouse”.

The blue boards across Maison Dieu Road hide the site of the former MFI retail warehouse that was in the process of being demolished when I photographed it on 13 March 2011 Image It does mean that the buildings that were hidden from view are now visible.

Looking west-southwest along Castle Street
Scaffolding had been erected on the frontages of two houses and both seemed to be having their window frames repainted. Number 11 is the nearer house and number 29 is identifiable by the additional blue safety netting.

Looking southwest along Castle Street
Numbers 12-14 are in the course of being built. Planning permission has been granted by Dover District Council under application number DOV/13/00921 for the “erection of building (over 2 and 3 floors) for use as 3 x 1 bedroom flats and 5 x 2 bedroom flats and ancillary works”. The appearance of the new building will complement the other buildings along the street, which this view of the former Lidl store in Image did not!
