Selsted Farm, Stockham Lane
Planning permission was approved with conditions by Folkestone and Hythe District Council under application number Y16/1052/SH for the “change of use and conversion of existing cart shed, stables and long barn to (Class B1a) office use, erection of a new building for use as a (Class D1) equine vets following demolition of the existing Atcost building, erection of a new office (Class B1a) building, together with the erection of associated stable block, bike store and formation of parking area, upgrading the vehicular access and provision of a footpath link to Canterbury Road”. In 2015, there was a hopeful “for sale” board in this view of the Image but two 2012 views of Image and Image showed the property in a similar derelict condition. I had been to cast my vote at the Image using the bike seen in the image but this vote was for a local election. I stopped on the way home to photo Selsted Farm yet again.

This image of Image was taken before the fence had been erected and clearance of the site started. The present image was taken during another blast of icy Siberian wind, courtesy of “the mini beast from the east”, through fine grains of snow, which was falling at the time. However this storm produced very little depth of lying snow in the far southeast of Kent.

Selsted Cricket Club bus stop, Canterbury Road (A260)
The cricket pavilion and ground are located on the other side of the hedge to the left of the stop, which is referred to as Selsted Cricket Club in bus timetables. One of the double-decker buses that ply this route between Canterbury and Folkestone (although some run as far as Hythe) has just passed the stop. Buses run every 15 minutes from 07:30 until 23:10 from Mondays to Saturdays and once an hour from 10:20 until 18:35 on Sundays and Bank Holidays. This image was taken during another blast of icy Siberian wind, courtesy of “the mini beast from the east”, through fine grains of snow, which was falling at the time.
