Looking north along Fisher Street
The building, with its frontage covered in scaffolding, is the George and Dragon public house. It was built in 1446 and was part of the estate of Peter Taychell, who possessed many mortgages in Sandwich, Ash and Wingham http://www.dover-kent.com/George-and-Dragon-Sandwich.html

The Barbican and Fishergate are the only remaining gates in the old town wall. Fishergate opens onto The Quay, once a busy trading wharf on the River Stour.

Fishergate, a cobbled street in Sandwich.
This delightful old street lead up from the quay into the town and was a major route for fish and the marine trade of this old Cinque Port.
