Picked out by Pevsner as "quite a good modern building", which might sound like damning with faint praise, but isn't. Designed by E.H. Banks in 1954. The sides are gently curved.

Caribbean takeaway, Woodville Road, Thornton Heath
To the right, the presence of a shop stating it sells Afro-Caribbean and Polish foods is an indication of changing immigration patterns affecting this cosmopolitan area. By the same token, the sign protruding from the camera in the middle of the takeaway proclaims that it sells halal meat.
