Church Building, Nethern on the Hill
This building used to serve as a chapel/church for a mental hospital that stood on the site. Today, the area is being extensively re-developed for housing and I was told that the "church" is being converted to a swimming pool.

Netherne-on-the-Hill: Re-used building
This was previously the reception block of the Lunatic Asylum, which was refurbished and re-used as part of the new Netherne Village. The clock was (rarely for a public clock these days) actually showing the right time. Whether the mechanism of this clock is the original is not known to me.

Netherne-on-the-Hill: Leisure Centre
The area once occupied by the former Surrey County Lunatic Asylum has been redeveloped into an attractive residential village. The former chapel shown here is now re-used as the Leisure Centre. Netherne is certainly an attractive place to live, but two disadvantages: (1) No public transport at all, (2) no pub.
