Mitcham: Jessop Place
High-class development close to Mitcham tram stop. The development's name has no connection with the well-known photographic firm, but relates to the talented civil engineer William Jessop, who laid out the trackbed for the Surrey Iron Railway, which once ran where the electric tramline is now.

By late June 2012, Tramlink had doubled the track from just outside Mitcham Junction to Mitcham. As can be seen in this picture, some embankments had been excavated, with the remaining soil held in place by metal piles and timbers. The workman was carrying a piece of mesh, used to protect the pedestrian crossing point, which required a final trim before being bolted in place.
