Looking south. The ornate frontage of the 'Red Deer' has been preserved, but the pub is now converted to a Morrison's supermarket. The photograph was taken from just outside the large South Croydon bus garage, now operated by Arriva.

Former Red Deer pub, South Croydon
The Red Deer pub has been converted to a local supermarket. Notice the statue of a red deer above the top window of the building, and the name "red deer" in the ironwork above the entrance door.

Bynes Road, South Croydon, Surrey
Bynes Road runs east from a junction with Brighton Road, but it is of no use to rat-runners, as after turning sharp right it bends right again and comes out on Sanderstead Road.
