Shirley Oaks: former children's home
Shirley Oaks children's home, a facility operated by the London County Council prior to its abolition in 1965 (after which responsibility for children in care passed not to its successor the Greater London Council but to the various newly-constituted London Boroughs), has largely been demolished and replaced by a tight knot of new housing surrounded by lawns. Some of the old buildings from the children's home survive, however, and these are some of them.
