Memorial to Sgt. Ronald Victor Smith
Sgt, Smith was the Wireless Operator and Air Gunner in Wellington HF471 of 30 OTU. out of RAF Hixon, Staffs.on the 11th April 1944 on a Night-time navigation training exercise. At approximately 2100hrs, the aircraft descended from cloud in a dive and crashed into fields at Sandhall Farm, on the E bank of the River Ouse near Goole, East Yorkshire. Sgt. Smith was buried in Little Yeldham churchyard. https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/6533893 The other crewmembers were: Pilot; Plt Off. Charles Henry GALE, Navigator; Plt Off.
