Castle Hedingham houses [13]
Falcon House, number 3 King Street, has the appearance of an 18th century property but almost certainly has an older core. The front is painted red brick. Now used as offices. Listed, grade II, with details at: https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1338055 Castle Hedingham is a small village in Essex about 15 miles north west of Colchester. The village developed around the Norman castle and is home to a large number of timber framed medieval buildings. The village’s railway station which was opened in 1867, closed in 1964 and was dismantled and rebuilt in 1974 on a new site to the north west of the village by the Colne Valley Railway Preservation Society.

Red brick front and sides and a fine traceried semi-circular fanlight over the entrance door. This pair of cottages at numbers 2 and 4 King Street are 17th century or earlier. Timber framed with part of the front in red brick. The ground floor windows of number 2 are very small paned horizontal sliding sashes. Grade II Listed 15th century house now the Old Moot House Licensed Restaurant and 3 bedroom house formerly The Castle Restaurant. The Medcraft's, owners from 1979, state the former moot hall or market house was originally built between 1320-1370 with some parts still remaining.
