This pair of cottages at numbers 2 and 4 King Street are 17th century or earlier. Timber framed with part of the front in red brick. The ground floor windows of number 2 are very small paned horizontal sliding sashes. Listed, grade II, with details at: https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1122977 Castle Hedingham is a small village in Essex about 15 miles north west of Colchester. The village developed around the Norman castle and is home to a large number of timber framed medieval buildings. The village’s railway station which was opened in 1867, closed in 1964 and was dismantled and rebuilt in 1974 on a new site to the north west of the village by the Colne Valley Railway Preservation Society.
