St Botolph?s Priory, Colchester
This is the ruin of St Botolph’s Priory, the first Augustinian monastery in England founded in the eleventh century. It survived the dissolution of the monasteries by continuing as a church. However it fell victim to the English Civil War and went out of use after the 1640’s

St. Botolph's Priory was a medieval Augustinian religious house in Colchester, Essex, which had the distinction of being the first and leading Augustinian convent in England until its dissolution in 1536. St Botolph's church, Colchester
The building was dedicated in 1837. Built in Norman style, the architect was William Mason 1810-1897.
