River Blackwater water meadow through the trees
View from woods near the extremely overgrown footpath from a layby on the A12 to Little Braxted. It's rare that a route defeats me but this was impassable without the aid of a machete. I suspect that it hasn't been used for years except as a truckers convenience at the layby end.

Old Mill, Little Braxted, Essex
This is no longer used as a mill, it is now a private house. Adjoining the mill is the original Late Georgian miller's house.

Old Milepost by the B1389, Colchester Road, Witham parish
Cast iron post by the B1389 (was A12), in parish of WITHAM (BRAINTREE District), Colchester Road, Eastways, opposite Crittall Road industrial area, by the road, on Southeast side of road. Ransome iron casting, erected by the Chelmsford (Division of Essex First District) turnpike trust in the 19th century.
Inscription reads:-
