Cast iron post by the B1389 (was A12), in parish of WITHAM (BRAINTREE District), Colchester Road, Eastways, opposite Crittall Road industrial area, by the road, on Southeast side of road. Ransome iron casting, erected by the Chelmsford (Division of Essex First District) turnpike trust in the 19th century. Inscription reads:- : Witham / 1 : : TO / LONDON / 38 / Witham : : COLCHESTER / 13 : Essex HER.
