Former post office, Braintree
Opened in 1931; built to the designs of Office of Works architect David Dyke. There are many examples of Dyke's post office buildings still standing, although not all in post office use: there fine examples (all in a neo-Georgian style) at Bexhill-on-Sea, Maidstone, Basingstoke and Blandford Forum, to name but few.

The magnificent domed roof of this 1.6 million pound building sits majestically over the older historical buildings in the town's Market Place.
It was opened to the public in April 1998.
