New housing, Braintree
Extensive filling in of greenfield sites north of the A120 bypass, which is still going on further south. The low-lying strip along the River Brain valley is being left green amenity land. West facing windows should have a splendid view over the local sewage works.

Giraffe sculpture at Freeport Braintree
This giraffe sculpture, called Polka Dotty, is one of 30 2.5metre tall giraffes located in and around Colchester as part of the Stand Tall Trail in celebration of Colchester Zoo's 50th birthday. A different artist has designed each one and this one is by Samuel Thomas. On 19th September 2013 the sculptures will be auctioned to raise funds for conservation through Colchester Zoo's charity, Action for the Wild.
