Junction for Mashbury Hall Lane
The sign says to Mashbury Hall only, which is not quite right, as Mashbury church is also down there, although not regularly used. Mashbury was the smallest parish in the Chelmsford Borough, having no centre and a population of under eighty. The parish is now merged with Pleshey.

Norman doorway, Mashbury Church
This little (redundant?) church is graced by this Romanesque arch and doorway on the south side, within a later porch. There is a variety of old graffiti carved into the stone. One clear example (on the right hand side) reads: 1641 P.B. See Image

Mashbury Church
Locked at the time of my visit. It wasn't clear whether the church is still ever in use, though a look through the keyhole revealed pews still in place. It is an early, Romanesque church with later alterations, but the original Norman doorway remains. See: Image and Image
