Denhall Quay, looking towards the colliery site
Denhall Quay was built in 1791. Coal left here for North Wales, Ireland and the Isle of Man as well as inland via the canal system. Roofing slate and limestone came in. The quay fell out of use in the 1850s because this part of the Dee estuary had silted up.
