Eastham War Memorial
The Eastham War Memorial is in the form of a stone statue mounted on a stone obelisk which bears the names of those of Eastham parish who were killed during the two world wars. It stands in its own memorial garden, outside St Mary's Church (the lych gate can be seen behind, and to the left of, the memorial in this photograph).
The inscription on the base reads:
"IN HONOUR
OF THOSE FROM THIS PARISH
WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES IN THE
GREAT EUROPEAN WAR
4 AUG 1914 TO 11 NOV 1918"

The Church of St Mary, the Blessed Virgin
Anglican parish church in the diocese of Chester. It is Grade II listed. A place of worship has been here since before the time of the Domesday Book which mentions a priest at Eastham. The present church contains architecture from many periods although a major restoration by David Walker took place between 1876 and 1880. Some of the masonry in the north wall dates from the 12th century, the nave dates mainly from the 13th century, the tower originated in the 14th century and the aisles in the 15th century. The south porch dates from the 16th century. The tower was rebuilt in 1752, and the chancel was restored in 1863–64 by the Chester architect John Douglas. (Wikipedia)

Ancient Yew tree, Eastham church
There are railings around the tree and a notice stating that four experts had certified that the age of this tree was about 1600 years in 1988. It was said to be an "olde yew" in 1152 when the villagers entreated the Abbot and Monks of St. Werburgh to care for it.
