Curzon Park
Curzon Park is a residential area to the south of the Dee in Chester. The houses here are on Hough Green, and many are very large Victorian houses, many of which have now been subdivided into flats.

Bench mark in Curzon Park South
This bench mark is on a sandstone block on the south side of Curzon Park South. The other side of the block shows signs of having had a plate attached, so it is reasonable to assume that it once indicated a fire hydrant like the very similar block on Hough Green - see Image

Stick No Bills
This instruction is carved into the sandstone coping stone on a wall in Hough Green. It is very effective because no-one ever sticks posters on the wall below.

Chester Youth Hostel Plaque - close up
A close up the old plaque on the gatepost of the old Chester Youth Hostel. Citing the excessive cost of upgrading as the reason for disposal, in September 2009 the hostel has been sold and the plaque removed. The YHA website now states that there is alternative accommodation at "...YHA Liverpool (25 miles) or YHA Manchester (41 miles)"!
Regarding the youth hostels the plaque stated that:
"...they have a common purpose: to help all, especially young people of limited means..."
