St Luke's was built at the junction of Mill Lane and Breck Lane in 1907 as the district church for the townships of Poulton cum Seacombe and Wallasey. In 1941, during an air raid, the church was hit by a bomb causing damage to the steeple and roof.

The view from Breck Road Bridge. Kingsway Tunnel Approach is the dual carriageway. Mill Lane is on the bridge which crosses over. This was originally the site of Liscard & Poulton railway station, on the branch line towards Seacombe.

This shop is on the corner of Station Road and Mill Lane. Quite near is the entrance to the Mersey Tunnel and New Brighton docks.

West Float now terminates at Wallasey Bridge Road following the infilling of Bidston Dock. This is where this picture was taken from. RFA Orangeleaf is moored at Ilchester Wharf and saw action in both the Falklands and Gulf conflicts but was scrapped in 2016.

Berthed at Ilchester Wharf, seen from Poulton Quay next to the rowing club, with glasslike water on West Float. The helicopter hangars are clearly visible between the funnel and the stern. This replenishment ship served in the Falklands Conflict, then named RFA Fort Grange, where it was shadowed by an Argentine C-130 Hercules aircraft while still 1,000 nautical miles from the combat zone. The ship also supported British forces in the Balkans.

This is the only picture I have of a bus crossing any of the moveable bridges in Birkenhead Docks. Penny Bridge was until the late 19th century the only bridge across the Wallasey Pool and had a one penny toll. The bridge in the picture was built in 1926 and was the only major moving bridge to remain as a swing bridge, all the others having been converted to bascule type in the 1930s. Note the panel on the left hand girder indicating the scale of tolls. The bridge was replaced by a fixed roadway in 1996 after the closure of Bidston Dock. Bus 254 is a former Wallasey Corporation Leyland PD2 dating from 1951 with a pre-war style Metro Cammell body. It was by this time part of the Merseyside Passenger Transport Executive fleet, but retained its original Wallasey colours. It is seen here on an enthusiast tour marking its withdrawal after 21 years of service. It now forms part of the Wirral Transport Museum collection.
