The Architect Pub Restaurant, Chester
The Architect pub restaurant was named in honour of Thomas Harrison, a Georgian architect who designed Grosvenor Bridge and the new Chester Castle. He designed the building shown here as his own residence, it later became office buildings for the County Police Headquarters which was built next to it before remaining empty for several years.

The Architect, St Nicholas Street, Chester
The pub has an unusual name, recognition of the fact that the building, dated 1822-23, was originally St Martin's Lodge, the home of Thomas Harrison, an architect who graced the city with many impressive buildings. Grade II listed. "From here he could contemplate his Greek castle and see his great bridge arising - but the ring road and HQ Building have put paid to any such thing".
