Class 57 at Cogan
Class 57 locomotive No. 57316 works the empty stock of the Northern Belle from Barry back to Carnforth and is seen passing Cogan station. The train had run a number of railtours around South Wales and the South West in the previous days.

Cogan railway station
Viewed from the south. Cogan is on the Vale of Glamorgan Line 4 kilometres south of Cardiff Central station. From Mondays-Fridays there are 3 trains per hour to Barry Island and an hourly service to Bridgend via Rhoose. In the opposite direction, the frequency to Cardiff Central is every 15 minutes. Most of these continue to either Aberdare or Merthyr Tydfil.
