Railway line from Penarth approaches Cogan Junction
The single-track line from Penarth and Dingle Road stations approaches Cogan Junction. On the left, an Arriva Trains Wales service to Cardiff Central (and on to either Aberdare or Merthyr Tydfil) has just left Cogan Station, http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/2184221 a few tens of metres away.

Cogan railway station
Viewed from the south. Cogan is on the Vale of Glamorgan Line 4 kilometres south of Cardiff Central station. From Mondays-Fridays there are 3 trains per hour to Barry Island and an hourly service to Bridgend via Rhoose. In the opposite direction, the frequency to Cardiff Central is every 15 minutes. Most of these continue to either Aberdare or Merthyr Tydfil.

Freightliner's class 66 locomotive No. 66553 passes through Cogan station with an empty working from Aberthaw Power Station to Tower Colliery.

Class 57 at Cogan
Class 57 locomotive No. 57601 brings up the rear of the empty stock of the Northern Belle from Barry back to Carnforth and is seen at Cogan Junction. The train had run a number of railtours around South Wales and the South West in the previous days.

Cogan railway station, South Glamorgan
Opened in 1888 (needs confirmation) by the Barry Railway on its line from Barry to Cardiff. View south west towards Eastbrook and Barry. There also used to be an additional 2 platforms on the Penarth line, out of view to the far left.
