Boarded up building in Paget Road, Penarth
I believe that this was originally the Penarth Hotel opened by the Taff Vale Railway in 1865 for a business and seafaring clientele, later becoming a National Children's Home and Orphanage and later known as Headlands School.

Headlands School, Penarth
Built in 1868 as 'Penarth Hotel' by the Taff Vale Railway Company. It was bought and presented to National Children's Home by the widow of Major J A Gibbs in memory of her husband who was killed during First World War, opening in July 1921. It was a nautical training school known as the J A Gibbs Home; subsequently renamed The Headlands School. It became an "approved" school, in 1936 and remained so until approved schools were abolished in 1969. In 1978 it became co-educational.
