Headlands School at 2 St Augustine's Road helps children and young people aged 8-19 who are having difficulty learning as a result of challenging behaviour, including those with behavioural, emotional and social difficulties, Autistic Spectrum Disorder and Asperger's Syndrome. The building was originally the Penarth Hotel, built for the Taff Vale Railway in the 1860s. The hotel was never a commercial success, staff usually outnumbering guests.
