Insole Grove, Llandaff
Looking across the parkland between Insole grove west (from where image was taken) to the houses in Insole Grove East. This area was built in the 1930's when part of the land surrounding Insole Court was sold to Cardiff Corporation to build a new orbital road, now Western Avenue, and with the remainder developed for housing. See Image for details of this planned development.

Griffon on gate pillar, Insole Court
This carved stone griffon adorns a pillar at the top of the south carriage drive to Insole Court, the tower of which can be seen in the background. This house has a complex history, and was remodelled between 1873-78 in a Gothic style popularised by William Burges' work nearby at Cardiff Castle and at Knightshayes Court in Devon (now a National Trust property). The house is currently owned by Cardiff City Council, and has an active Friends group that is working to ensure the house and grounds are maintained and used for the local community - http://www.insolecourt.org.uk

The gardens at Insole Court, Llandaff
This is what remains of the formal gardens that lay immediately south of Insole Court, the steps on the right lead up to the Terrace in front of the house. The Cedar of Lebanon tree is a magnificent tree. The trees around the gardens provide a barrier against the busy city of Cardiff beyond, and make these gardens a very pleasant peaceful oasis indeed, in winter or summer.
