The large works with the chimneys and water tank is the Castle works of Celsa Steel UK. This is in the East Moors area that has been heavily industrialised for over a century.

Shrubs and vegetation growing along the east side of Atlantic Wharf
Whether to encourage wild life, or the result of neglect on the side of the dock where there are no buildings, I don't know. If left unchecked, it seems possible that before long there will be no view of the water from the path.
