The Ernest Willows, Cardiff
Wetherspoons pub, opened in 2000, on the corner of City Road and Oxford Lane.
Ernest Thompson Willows was a pioneer aviator. Born in Cardiff in 1886, he designed and built several airships. The first, named Willows 1, was in 1905. He died on August 23 1926 in a balloon accident giving joy rides at a public show at Hoo Park, Kempston, Bedford.
