Fire-damaged former cinema in Cardiff
A fire gutted a former cinema on Pearl Street in Adamsdown, Cardiff, on 22nd February 2015; the building is now being demolished. It was built in 1913, opening as Splott Cinema, later becoming a bingo hall and most recently a Christian Centre. Proposals were made to erect apartments on the site, but the plans were later withdrawn. Located on the corner of Pearl Street and Splott Road. Old Illts RFC is short for Old Illtydians Rugby Football Club. In season 2010-2011, the team play in WRU Division Five South East. Next door is JB Wine Store, off-licence, newsagents, tobacconists and general grocery. Previously a Costcutter store.
