According to one online source, the Cardiff streets named Waun Ddyfal, Threipland Drive and Latteys Close are the only examples of these names in the UK. There are more than a dozen streets named Phoenix Way in the UK.

Site for a new Aldi store, Caerphilly Rd, Cardiff
The site, a former petrol station and other buildings, has lain derelict for many years. It is now being developed as an Aldi store. Given that there is a recently enlarged Lidl about 100 yards away, a Tesco Express about 250 yards away, a Morrisons about 400 yards away, and a Coop about 400 yards in the opposite direction, and given the desperate need for more housing, it is hard to see why planning permission was given.

"Good planning", Caerphilly Rd, Cardiff
Quite recently Cardiff planners revamped Caerphilly Rd to provide stretches of bus-lane, alternating between the north-bound and south-bound sides. Opinions vary as to the success of this scheme. Now, however, they have given permission for a new Aldi supermarket to be built on a site beside Caerphilly Rd. Despite the fact that there is an existing side road off Caerphilly Rd which gives access to this site, permission has been given for a new access directly on to the so-recently designated bus-lane in Caerphilly Rd. And as the photo shows, they have now built a pedestrian refuge in the middle of the north-bound lane, forcing traffic into the bus-lane. Since then, they have torn up that stretch of road surface. Presumably they feel they can now manage without a bus-lane.
