St. Botolph's church, Hadstock, Essex
For more than 1,000 years Hadstock church has stood beside the Icknield Way, Britain's oldest prehistoric pathway, overlooking the small village. This beautiful and simple building contains unique and important features, including the country’s oldest wooden door still in use.

Hadstock: St Botolph - north porch and Saxon doorway
The most ancient parts of this church date from the 11th century. The door itself is believed to be one of the oldest in England.
