CB1: new flats and new roads
This area was once part of the extensive goods yards to the west of Cambridge Station. The road in the foreground is Brookgate. The Rail Yard flats are to the left and ahead.

A November morning at CB1
This new road leads from the junction of Hills Road and Brooklands Avenue (behind the camera) to bus stops and the railway station (turn to the left beyond the block under construction).

A changing scene
The blocks under construction are the Rail Yard student flats. The guided busway route passes between them. The Belvedere flats on Hills Road are in the distance, beyond the sloping roofs of the power signal box. Image] and Image] give some idea of this area before the latest blocks went up.

Ahead and to the right the Rail Yard student flats are taking shape on the last pieces of undeveloped land - once railway sidings - between the station and Hills Road.

Rail Yard nearing completion
The south end of the block next to Platform 3 of the railway station is on the right, the other one on the left. The corner of Brookgate and Station Place is in the centre of the picture. Image] is a comparable view, taken five months earlier.

CB1 taking shape
Student flats are being built on former railway land south of Cambridge Station. The Earl of Derby pub on Hills Road (extreme left) is one of the few older buildings left in this area. The busway route crosses the picture, which was taken from the top storey of the Cambridge Leisure car park.
