St Cuthbert's Lane, Carlisle - June 2017
St Cuthbert's Lane once boasted four pubs - the "Lowther Arms", the "Fish & Dolphin", the "Shakespeare Tavern" and the "Farmers Arms". Only the "Shakespeare Tavern" survived to the State Management period, being acquired on 29 July 1916. It was on the right in this view and was closed circa 1920 and later demolished. There are no obvious traces of the other pubs, which all closed circa 1914. Photograph is for record only - I have no connection with any business seen in this view and cannot advise on their products or services.
