The Viceroy Bangladeshi Restaurant, August 2012
An award-winning curry house, located at this building in Rigg Street for many years. It was a casualty of the Storm Desmond floods in December 2015, and the business has since relocated across the road to Shaddongate http://www.viceroycarlisle.co.uk/ .

West End Temperance Hall
At the corner of Church Street and Hawick Street. The hall was erected in 1861 (date stone below roof), it also contained a working men's reading room. It is currently used for meetings, e.g. by the Carlisle Christian Spiritualist Church. A dance studio is due to open here soon.
Further left is Scotby Cycles, occupying what was originally the Caldewgate Wesleyan Chapel (built 1865), which later became the Regal Cinema.
Between these two buildings is the small shop front of an electrical appliance repair business.

Site of "Angler's Arms Inn" - December 2016
Little seems to be known of the "Angler's Arms", which was situated on the corner of Rigg Street and Shaddongate and was closed by the State Management Scheme on 12 October 1916. Although some of the small streets off Shaddongate have vanished, this is thought to be the pub's approximate location.
Photograph is for record only - I have no connection with any business seen in this view and cannot advise on their products or services.

"Duke of York" pub - December 2016 (1)
Built circa 1823 and known as "Story's Vaults" until 1895, when it was purchased by Carlisle New Brewery and re-named "Duke of York", this pub was acquired by the State in August 1916 and sold to Greenall Whitley on 21 May 1973. Closed in 2000, it has been unused since - its survival seemingly dependent upon continued occupancy of the top floor.
