Passenger Train Approaching Harrington Railway Station
To improve capacity at peak times - in particular for Sellafield workers - Northern use a loco hauled train hired from Direct Rail Services on several daily diagrams along the Cumbrian coast. One such service is seen rounding the curve on the approach to Harrington Station.

Harrington railway station, Cumbria
Opened in 1846 by the Whitehaven Junction Railway (later part of the London & North Western Railway empire) on the line from Barrow-in-Furness to Carlisle. View north towards Workington and Carlisle.
The two raised darker areas on the platforms are known as "Harrington Humps", designed to raise the level of the platform and give easier access to trains. They were first tried here, hence the name, and are now used at numerous other rural stations.
