Workington South Neighbourhood

Allerdale Police recently conducted a community survey for the Workington area and surrounding villages and wish to thank those who took the time to complete this.

One of the main issues raised was youth related anti-social behaviour in the Seaton area. Please be reassured that your local officers are aware of this issue and have been proactively patrolling the area over the last couple of weeks and will continue to do so. A number of youths have already been identified as a result.

Our local officers will continue to address these issues over the coming weeks, conducting hi visibility patrols in the specific areas, engaging with the local community and taking steps to identify any person contributing to this issue.

WE DID:
High visibility patrols in the area with a view of identifying offending drivers. This was published on Allerdale Police Social media pages.

Drivers are asked to consider road safety and the safety of children, parents and the school crossing patrol when passing through the area.

The local PCSO in partnership with Cumberland Council Enforcement attended the area to address parking concerns.

The local CBO for the area conducted speed checks resulting in advice to road users.

PCSO Robinson and Beckstone Mini Police attended the area and advised a number of road users with regards to their inconsiderate parking.

Engagement is ongoing with the local school regarding this

Youth related criminal damage – High Harrington

Reports of youths causing damage to a sign belonging to a business in the High Harrington area which was published by the owner on social media

Response (15 May 2024)

WE DID:

Local PCSO saw the social media post and made contact with the business and was able to identify those responsible.
Youths admitted the offence and their parents are engaging with the business owner regarding paying for the damage.
Acceptable Behaviour Contracts signed by both youths to address their behaviour and prevent any further escalation.

Male youth witnessed riding an e-scooter on a road in Salterbeck. Male stopped, scooter seized, male reported for Driving otherwise in accordance with a licence, no insurance and arrested for possession of a Class B Drug Cannabis and failing a road side drug wipe and arrested for Section 4 RTA unfit through drink/drugs.

We are aware that this issue is ongoing and will continue to address these issues over the coming months.

We are aware that this issue is ongoing and will continue to address these issues over the coming months.

Sgt Leesa Edwards added: “I would encourage anyone to come forward and tell us if you are affected by this issue and if you are able to identify who is riding such motorbikes. We will take positive action in respect of anyone caught riding motorbikes illegally.”
