The north end of Workington station
Once an important station serving many local industries, it is now only a stop on the hourly passenger service, with a couple of freight sidings. For now, it retains its signal box and semaphore signals.

View from platform, Workington Station
On the Cumbrian Coast line, looking in the Maryport direction. Between the end of the platform and the road bridge is a signal box, with the name "Workington Main No 3". Before the closure of other local railways, this station was called Workington Main.
Shortly after this photo was taken, it was announced that £700,000 would be spent in the near future on improving the station and signal box http://www.timesandstar.co.uk/news/other/workington-train-station-makeover-1.758935?referrerPath=1.135736 , which indeed look a bit shabby.

Workington Railway Station
Built in 1886 by the London & North Western Railway, to replace an earlier building. In the past Workington had two other railway stations in or near the town - this one was called Low Station or Workington Main.
