Wordsworth House and Garden, Cockermouth
Wordsworth House is a Georgian townhouse in Cockermouth. It was built in the mid-18th century and its particular significance lies in the fact that William Wordsworth was born in the house in 1770. The house, which is owned by the National Trust is a Grade I listed building. Wordsworth House, Cockermouth
Wordsworth House was the birth place of the poet, William Wordsworth. The house was built in 1745 for the then High Sheriff of Cumberland, Joshua Lucock.
Pevsner describes the house as follows: 'quite a swagger house for such a town'. The house is now the property of the National Trust.
