Wordsworth House was the birth place of the poet, William Wordsworth. The house was built in 1745 for the then High Sheriff of Cumberland, Joshua Lucock. Pevsner describes the house as follows: 'quite a swagger house for such a town'. The house is now the property of the National Trust.
