16 and 18 Main Street, Cockermouth
16 to 22 (even) are a row of Grade II Listed 18th century properties. Olive Tree with the door in the centre is 18a. Previously it has been The Collection/Well Suited and Gallery Artemis. An 18b also crops up in early planning applications. No.16, I Do Bridal Ltd was incorporated on 13th November 2003 and seems to have been here since then. In 1987 no.16 is referred to as 'workshop on ground floor & living accommodation of first floor' and in 1989 seems to have had a new shop window. In 2013, at an address given as 16a, it was given permission to convert '1st floor and 2nd floor flat to retail and storage associated with existing retail at ground floor level'. From at least 2017 no.18 looks to be empty. In 1989 it seems to have been a Dry Cleaners. Planning granted conversion of first and second floors that had been a beauty salon to three self-contained residential flats over nos.18-22 in 2004-2006. Prior to 2010 no.18 was Al's Toys and was vacant by the April. As a result of the floods, the shop front was replaced around the end of that year.

12 Tony Marks and 14 rootz Main Street, Cockermouth
Grade II Listed early 19th century properties. The painted sundial is dated 1777, but the architectural features have been altered. No.12 looks to have had a new door and roof in 1987. The shop sign was changed in 2013 presumably when it changed from Mottram Natural Hairdressing Ltd to Tony Marks. 14A down the passage looks to have been John Belford & Co. followed by Tattersall Bailey before July 2015. Rootz also opened in no.14 between April 2010 and July 2015.

Note the astonishingly high flood marker on the wall of this Main Street pub, recalling the unprecedented event of November 2009 when this part of the town was flooded to a depth of 2.5 metres.

Regent House, 15 Main Street, Cockermouth
No.15 is Grade II Listed as part of a row of buildings 9 to 21 (odd). 2022 sales particulars describe it as "2 x ground floor retail units together with 2 x upper floor flats. One of the retail units is vacant, the remainder is let....external redecoration having been carried out in July 2022". In 1989 planning approved renovations to Derelict Property to form Habitable Dwelling. A rectangular marble tablet commemorating men of the Great War was installed at the bottom of the staircase leading to the upper floor that is now in the Cumbria Museum of Military Life. It was discovered in refurbishment after the 2009 floods. The upper floor had been used as the local Toc H Club up to the 1930s. The 2010-2011 refurbishment after the floods also obtained planning for conversion of the first floor to two flats.
