Peter Rabbit Statue at Lingholm
Beatrix Potter spent many holidays here on the Lingholm Estate and was inspired by the old Kitchen Garden which became Mr McGregor’s garden in her book The Tale of Peter Rabbit.

The Walled Garden at Lingholm near Keswick
The old Lingholm Kitchen Garden was Beatrix Potter’s inspiration for Mr McGregor’s garden in her book The Tale of Peter Rabbit. Beatrix Potter’s family spent many holidays here in the Lingholm Estate during the years 1885-1907. While here she also found inspiration to write her Squirrel Nutkin story.
